Airmaster Drives Worlds First Fuel Cell Powered Electric Aircraft !!

FASTec chooses Airmaster
When James Dunn, project director for Fastec's "Electric Fuel Cell Powered Light Aircraft" wanted an advanced electric variable pitch propeller, he turned to the  Airmaster AP332.

This innovative research and education project focuses on designing , building, and testing a safe, practical 2-place General Aviation airplane, powered by DC electricity from Fuel Cells and advanced rechargeable batteries, that can take off, fly over 250 miles on a singe charge and land safely.  This futuristic aviation breakthrough will be developed with special funding from NASA and FASTec.  Partner companies involved in this project include Airmaster Propellers Ltd, American Giles Aircraft, UQM Technologies, Lithium Technology Corp and VIcor

Oshkosh 2002We would like to thank again the many volunteers who joined us at Oshkosh, or helped to prepare for Oshkosh – This was the first time that we demonstrated the electric drive system, with the new AirMaster propeller installed.  Having a prop spinning (with no engine noise) drew quite a crowd, including some very interesting dialogue from visionaries Barnaby Wainfan, Austin Meyer (X-plane),  Burt Rutan and others.  Test Pilots Hoot Gibson and Bruce Bohannon also provided scheduled briefings and support in answering questions and explaining the plans for future record breaking.

The non-profit Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology and education (FASTec) supports the exploration and application of emerging technologies, especially alternate energy technology such as fuel cells, for all types of transportation vehicles. FASTec along with NASA, is  currently funding the development of the world's first fuel-cell-powered electric airplane.
